Let Me Introduce Myself

I’m a Central California native who married a boy I met on a blind date, set up by friends desperate to help me meet a nice guy, the mom to a fabulous daughter, and an entrepreneur who just had to close her beautiful bookstore. These days my life has completely switched gears, as I’m trying to figure out how to navigate things as an empty nester. Between closing a store, having a child move out to find her life, and finding my own new purpose in life, you could say I've been a bit reflective.

During the past 14 years (and for a while prior to that) I managed all of my stress with eating. Not just the occasional "treat" but true, secret, shameful eating while hiding in parking lots, closets, and even the gym. I'd eat after a stressful morning, I'd run through McDonald's for a little treat (I'll delve deeper into what those treats entailed at a later time...) even after just eating a large meal maybe less than half an hour prior.

Needless to say, the weight, shame, and despair packed itself on. As it increased, so did my behaviors. A disastrous storm of sabatoge and stress. For so many years I desperately tried to right my ship, but one day something clicked and I decided that everytime I felt upset, scared, stressed, angry...I would take a little walk or try and get outside. Little by little (and not without some setbacks) have I begun choosing what is healthy for myself. This blog & podcast will now be a part of that in hopes that someone else out there might feel the same and need to hear what I have to say. It's going to be messy, uncomfortable, and cringy at times, but also fun, encouraging, and worth it.
